The Economist discusses the growth of rugby in America

Those responsible for promoting rugby in America are confident that when more people see it, they will love it. “Americans like combat sports and good athletes,” says Nigel Melville, the head of USA Rugby. True. Yet they also have a penchant for sports that promote superstars and breed controversy, both on and off the field. With its emphasis on teamwork and fair play, rugby doesn’t quite fit that mould.

Our goal is to expose high school players to the great game of rugby.  Since 1996, Forest Hills has been fielding a side at the high school level.  We are a club sport for all three Forest Hills schools for boys in 9th to 12th grade.  We also welcome players from other schools.   No experience is necessary.   The sport is not just football without pads.   Think more of "tackle basketball".    Hockey players,  wrestlers and soccer players quickly adapt to our sport as well.
